I’m told that if you want to see Rome, getting an apartment is simply the right thing to do.

Given that he’s 17, it’s probably too late to be worried about it.

I took my nephew there. I asked him where he wanted to go as his gift trip and he said he wanted to see the Coliseum. Since I didn’t want to be stuck in a small hotel room with a lazy, lunkheaded 17 year old (not being an unrelated 17 year old girl) I rented an apartment. 20 foot ceilings give an incredible sense of space. I was able to enjoy coffee on the terrace while letting him sleep late before chivvying him out for some sightseeing. My only regret on that trip is not eating more gelato.

On the plane ride home, he was reading Oath of Swords while I kept on telling him how good Ringo’s book was. Now after finishing it, I’m vaguely uncomfortable about passing it on, which I’ve promised to do.

I’ll be interested in reading your reaction to “Trustee in the Toolroom” which I think is my favorite by a shaved inch.

I’m also curious to know which scene it was in Pastoral that affected you?

Yeah, Ringo’s a good storyteller, except for this little fetish of his.

I’m glad you liked Oath of Swords; it’s a neat book. The next one’s pretty good too.

So what were you doing in Rome?

I nicked “There Will Be Dragons” from a friend’s hotel in Rome to read on the plane ride home. I recognized the title from your review while browsing the hotel library of books. I liked it and plan on reading the next one, though I also didn’t much care for his sex talk.

By the way, I also took Oath of Swords with me to Rome. It was perfect travel reading.
